WOLFPACK KLAA SOUTH CO-CHAMPIONS! TEAM 11-1....
For more info regarding the KLAA Conference and the current standing, visit:
http://www.klaastandings.com/winter/wrestling/wrestling.htm
The KLAA South has unfolded, and the Wolfpack has earned the title of KLAA South Division Co-Champions. We were able to do this because on 1/25, the Wolfpack had another first by defeating Livonia Franklin 36-31. The team finished 4-1 in the KLAA South, as did Livonia Franklin and John Glenn. Yet, Livonia Franklin beat John Glenn 30-29 on 1/18, and the Pack's only loss of the season was to Glenn. Because of the three way tie, all three teams earn the title of KLAA South Division Co-Champions. This has been a year of firsts, and we couldn't be more proud of our 11-1 Wolfpack Wrestling Team! We have seen how much we have
improved and how much better we can still be. On top of the stellar performance on 1/25, the team has
beaten many KLAA schools like Novi, Salem, Lakeland, Plymouth,
Churchill, and last years Kensington Conference Champions
in the Canton Chiefs. Last year the team lost to Canton 52-12, only
winning 3 matches. All the hard work paid off gentlemen! We couldn't be more proud!
On 1/18, the team traveled to Canton and proved how
far we have come by beating the Chiefs 36-30. Our wrestlers fought hard
to win this dual, pinning when we had opponents on their backs and
fighting off of our own. We couldn't be more proud of the team. Yet,
right after the celebration ended the team took on cross-town rival John
Glenn. The Rockets came out firing, and handed the boys their first
loss of the season 49-18. Despite the loss, on 1/25 we were able to knock off Livonia Franklin who handed Glenn one of their few losses this season. No worries, we'll see them again at Districts!
On 1/11, the wrestlers tossed around Livonia
Churchill and won 63 to 14, and then the team had to use some strategy
to beat a
tough Plymouth team 47 to 28. Helping the team was Jake
Preiss, Tyler Mulligan, Tim Way, Mike Gossett, Tristan Jarosiewicz,
Devon Adams,
Mike Nicholson, Allen Parker, Micheil Hood, Sharif Hegazi, Sam Ekanem,
Lucas
Hofbauer, Devin Korzetki, Aaron Mauldin, Colin Mullins, and Dimitrus
Renfroe. It all came down to bonus points, and we are proud of all of
you for giving 100%.
On 1/4, the Wolfpack wrestled at home and beat Salem 46-27 in the
first match of the night. In the second round, the team came out fired
up and tossed around the Novi Wildcats, winning 49-21. Huge wins came
from Tyler Mulligan who avenged a loss, Tim Way, Tristan Jarosiewicz,
Devon Adams, Kevin Marz, Allen Parker, Sharif Hegazi, Lucas Hofbauer,
Devin Korzetki, Dimitrus Renfroe, and Aaron Mauldin. The biggest win of
that round came from Sam Ekanem, who defeated Salem Captain Tyler Gross
6-1 .
On Thursday 12/22 the Wolfpack defeated Romulus Summit Academy 59-15 and
White Lake Lakeland 62-9! The team looked great out there, knocking
off many regional qualifiers and County placers!
All the hard work paid off on 12/7! The Wolfpack
will wrestled their first two duals of the season and looked strong! The
team had a flawless dual against Romulus, winning 84-0. That's a pin
in every weightclass! Then the team turned it's sights to Garden City,
handling the Cougars 56-18.
1ST PLACE FINISHES FOR VARSITY AND JV ON 1/21!!!
The Varsity squad competed at Lincoln Park on 1/21 and walked over
the competition! Of the wrestlers we sent, all 12 finished in the top 4
in their weight class! In addition, each wrestler got atleast 4 or 5
matches! That gave us a 100 point lead over the 2nd place team, Lincoln
Park, and a 1st place trophy! Champs were Devon Adams, Allen Parker,
Sam Ekanem, Lucas Hofbauer, Devin Korzetki, and Dimitrus Renfroe! Tyler
Mulligan and Aaron Mauldin finished 2nd, Sharif Hegazi and Tim Way took
3rd, and Micheil Hood and Mike Nicholson ended up 4th on the day. On
top of all that success, Allen Parker was awarded Most Outstanding
Wrestler for dominating the toughest weightclass of the day! Congrats
to Allen and all the wrestlers for another great Saturday! Way to go!
On top of the success the Varsity had, the JV took home a 1st place
trophy from the John Glenn JV Tournament at the U of M Dearborn
Fieldhouse! Results will be posted soon!

by finishing 2nd out of the 28 schools competing at the Wayne County
