Behind a stellar pitching performance from Nick Inouye, the Langdon Farms Baseball Club (2-14, 0-10) picked up their second straight victory, as they defeated Oregon City 4-1 on Friday in their first game of the Summer Slam Tournament at the WHS Baseball Complex.
Inouye (1-3) gave up seven hits, but did a great job minimizing damage, stranding runners at third in four of his seven innings. Oregon City did manage a run in the sixth inning, but with Langdon Farms leading by four runs going into the inning, the one run was not a real threat.
Langdon Farms built their 4-0 lead with an RBI triple in the first inning from Spencer Cumiford. They added three more runs in the fourth on an RBI double from Ethan Rogers, a double steal and an RBI single from Briar Hetland.
In other action on Day 1 of the Summer Slam, Jesuit beat North Marion 10-3, Alpenrose (Wilson) beat Tigard 5-0 and Westview beat St. Helens 21-2.
Jesuit's Jacob Wark won the Home Run Derby in a Homer Off with Westview's Carson Kelly. Wark clubbed five homers in all, many of which reached the top of the trees on the JV field at the WHS Baseball Complex.
Langdon Farms will return to action on Saturday, as they take on Jesuit at 4 pm and North Marion at 7 pm on Day 2 of the Summer Slam.
