Three former Wildcat standouts will continue their collegiate playing careers this month as the 2010 collegiate baseball season gets underway.
Bryan Roby ('06), Tyler Reeves ('07) and Jake Jones ('09) are all members of the baseball team at their respective universities.
Roby, a senior infielder/right handed pitcher at Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, Georgia begins his final collegiate season this weekend, as his Pirate squad hosts a double-header against Salem International. After two seasons at Clackamas Community College, Roby played third base and pitched in relief for the Pirates last season.
Reeves, a junior outfielder at Abilene Christian in Abilene, Texas, will also get his season underway on Saturday when his Wildcats squad takes on Harding in a double-header on Abilene. An All-NWAACC outfielder as a freshman at Columbia Basin Community College, Reeves battled through an injury plagued sophomore year. At Abilene Christian, an NCAA Division II power, he hopes to take over the starting job in rightfield.
Jones will be making his collegiate debut when he takes the field for Willamette University in Salem, Oregon later this month. After a slow start on the mound last season, Jones was lights out during the second half of the year, earning 2nd Team All-NWOC honors last year. The Bearcats get their season underway on February 19th, when they take on Oregon Tech. |
