Alm Finishes 5th @ 152

"Sven is a one-of-a-kind wrestler. He's the hardest worker I've coached and is an example for us all to follow. He will be sorely missed but I know he has a great competitive career ahead of him. We were blessed as coaches to have a wrestler who brought out the best in himself and those around him. I appreciate and I am honored by all of the hard work Sven put in over the years." -Coach Anderson

"Our guys were aggressive & tactical in their wins and when we lost, we were working towards executing our moves. Hesperia is a very good team and we wrestled well enough to give them a go...But, we have to beat the teams like Fremont. They were a lot like Kenowa Hills and a couple of our veteran wrestlers needed to pick it up. Overall, our light weights did a fantastic job going 15-5 (from 103-125)." -Coach Anderson

"We definitely have a lot to work on as a team...We will take this break and tightened up our technique and get in much better shape. We call it Rangerbrawl because we want to bring in tough, hard-nosed teams that are pretty evenly matched. Rogers edged out every team, but there were three teams that traded punches and ended up 3-2...That tells you that is was a brawl today. We walked away with a better understanding of the direction we need to take for the next month of training." -Coach Brad Anderson
The Rangers are back in action @ the Coopersville Team Duals on Tues 12/29
Each Monday the Ranger Wrestlers nominate their peers for Ranger Wrestler of the Week and vote on the those they would like to see recognized. Their names will be recognized on the website, on announcements and will receive special recognition at the home tournament this weekend.
Varsity A: Joe Westover
Joe has put in some serious time over the past four years. He has paid his dues and now is reaping the rewards. He is currently 4-3 on the year with two losses at the hands of state-ranked opponents. Joe moved up a weight-class after a tough challenge match defeat and still managed to place 6th at the Kent County Classic, one of the most prestigious early season tournaments in the state. Great job Joe!
Varsity B: Collin Schlosser
Collin is currently 4-0 in his freshmen campaign. He has a wicked double-leg and bundle that is hard to handle for opponents on the mat and in the practice room. Collin has transferred his balance, speed and power into becoming a champion wrestler. Nice work Collin!
Prep Team: Mike Baer
Mike Baer shows limitless promise as he is developing some great fundamentals. Mike is 3-1 in scrimmage matches and will see his first crack at official mat time this Wednesday against Lowell & East Grand Rapids. Keep up the great work Mike!

FHWL Dual Meet is a Success!
24 Elementary Wrestlers took part in our
first annual FH Wrestling League Dual
Ada Elementary vs. Pine Ridge
In its inaugural season, the FHWL introduced the concept of an inter-district wrestling league. Our vision is to put a full wrestling team on the mat at each of the 8 Forest Hills elementary schools. In the spirit of little league baseball and rocket football, we hope to create a local & convenient experience. Practices took place at each elementary after school and featured coaches from the varsity staff as well as varsity wrestlers. Wrestlers learned basic technique like the double-leg takedown, 1/2 nelson & stand-up. We hope that everyone enjoyed the "standing-room-only" dual meet in the Pine Ridge gymnasium. We look forward to seeing the wrestlers in the FHWC which begins December 1st.

After miraculously surviving non-Hodgkins lynphoma cancer last summer, Robert helped out the Ranger football team and wrestled at 215/HWT for the Ranger wrestling squad. His percerverance is an inspiration to us all! The gift he was given by the Make-a-Wish foundation was the remodeled 1995 pick-up that was left to him by his grandfather.
