Atlanta Dream and Buford Lady Wolves Participate in ESPN Rise Photo Shoot
It was really a "Dream" come true when ESPN RISE came calling on the Buford Lady Wolves Basketball Program. The Lady Wolves teamed up with Atlanta Dream players, Angel McCoughtry, Alison Bales and Iziane "Izzi" Castro to demonstrate basketball drills and weight training techniques. Lady Wolves players spent an entire afternoon with "the pros" of the WNBA sharing jumpers, laughs, and just hanging out sharing experiences that will be treasured memories for a lifetime. ESPN RISE takes professional teams and matches them with high school teams for the purpose of teaching skill techniques and drills and according to one of the editors of the magazine, when calling about a team based in Georgia, the name Buford Lady Wolves kept coming up from many different sources. Thus, the "Dream" match up came about and an afternoon of fun and learning was shared by individuals from both teams. From shooting contests, to sharing stories on the floor in a circle, all players both high school and professional enjoyed each others personalities and company. It was an experience enjoyed by all and created memories that will always be cherished. The Lady Wolves again proved that their program is more than state championship trophies and winning, as they impressed both the professional players and the magazine staff from ESPN with the way they represented Buford and our community as young women of character and integrity. To say the three organizations hit it off the bat would be an understatement. A good time was had my all!
