Head Coach: Bill Buirley
Coach Buirley is entering his 20th year of Firebird Volleyball. In this time Buirley has compiled a 287-179 record, Leading his Fairmont teams to 8 sectional championships and 6 league titles while guiding more than a dozen of his players to continue their volleyball careers on the collegiate level.
In 2009, Coach Buirley was bestowed the honor of the “OHSVCA's Sportsmanship, Ethics & Integrity” award of the state of Ohio.
Mr. Buirley, known to him by his math students at Fairmont HS, teaches Pre-Calculus, Algebra III, and AP Stats. He is the “Academic” team coach in the winter as well as the Head Coach for the Fairmont Firebirds men’s volleyball team in the spring.
A 1987 Graduate of Eastern Kentucky University Buirley competed as an Outside Hitter for the men’s volleyball team.
These accolades pale in comparison to his “Greatest accomplishment of all”, Raising his two sons. His oldest boy Tristan, is a Senior at Fairmont HS and the girls volleyball scorekeeper. While his younger son Aidan, a 3rd grader, someday aspires to play the game himself.
