Important Spring Sports Physicals Due Deadlines:
Track/Tennis/Volleyball Wednesday, Feb. 29th

Men’s Basketball: The Firebirds have concluded the regular season and begin their tournament run on Friday 2/24/12 vs. Stebbins at Trotwood-Madison High School. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
Women’s Basketball: Chelsea Welch registered a team-high 23 points in leading the Lady Firebirds to an 80-30 victory over Stebbins in the opening round of the Troy Sectional on Saturday afternoon.
Welch hit 10-of-16 shots to pace the Lady Firebirds (18-3), who will tangle with Xenia in the second round Wednesday night at 6 P.M.. The Firebirds recorded 27 steals while forcing Stebbins into 33 turnovers. Alona Skipper added 13 points, including three treys, while Alyssa Clemente recorded 11 points. Kathryn Westbeld and Lindsay Breslin each posted nine points as well. Fairmont outrebounded Stebbins, 34-10, in the winning effort.
The Firebirds continue their tournament run on Wednesday 2/22/12 vs. Xenia at Troy High School. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
Bowling: Both Boys and Girls bowling teams competed at the OHSAA Sectional over the weekend. Both teams advanced through the sectional to District competition this coming weekend. Best of luck to both teams as they bowl for a berth in the State Championships!
Swimming & Diving: The Firebird swimmers were led by Natalie Rohr, who qualified for the State Meet in both the 50 and 100 free. This is Natalie’s third straight year as a state qualifier. Natalie will compete at Branin Natatorium in Canton on Friday and Saturday. Good luck Natalie!
On February 14, Fairmont divers Jackson Kissel, Tim Kendig and Josh Schnipke represented Fairmont at the Southwest District Championships.
In his final high school competition, Senior Jackson Kissel performed a personal-best 312.30, to place 15th - scoring valuable team points for the Fairmont Aquatics Program.
Wrestling: The Fairmont Wrestling Firebirds started The Road to Columbus with a 3rd place finish at the Centerville 1 Sectional Tournament on Feb. 17-18. Eight Firebirds have advanced to District competition at Fairfield on Feb. 24-25. On the line will be a berth in the OHSAA State Championships the following week.
Leading Fairmont were Sectional Champions Matt Denlinger (132), Ryan Huffman (138), and Tommy Kimbrell (170). Josh Parrett (120) and Justin Kihn (126) lost close, hard-fought finals matches to finish as runners-up.
Also qualifying for the District were Colin DelValle (3rd-106), Brandon Boykin (4th-152), and Robert Nsenga (4th-195). Additional placers included Wolfgang Henger (6th-160) and Jordan Schlemmer (5th-220).
District competition at Fairfield High School begins on Friday 2/24/12 at 3:45 p.m. Saturday action begins at 10:00 a.m. with finals set for 6:00 p.m.
