August 23-29 Week In Review
Football pre-sale tickets for game at Miamisburg are on sale in the Athletic Office.  $6 for adults, $4 for Students/Seniors.  All tickets at the gate are $7.00.
 
Cross Country:  Both men and women finished in 5th place this past weekend. Senior, Maria Meredith opened the cross country season in winning fashion taking the title at the Sandusky St. Mary’s Panther Invitational. Meredith took the lead at the mile and broke away from a group of runners from Massillon Perry to hold on for the win. Perry won the girl’s team title. In boys action, state power Toledo St. Francis ran away with the event placing 5 runners in the top ten. Junior, Jake Gentile led the Firebirds placing 15th. The Firebirds travel to the Tipp City Invitational on Tuesday before going to the future GWOC site on Saturday to compete in the Lebanon Invitational.
 
 
Field Hockey:  The Firebirds open the season at Oakwood on Tuesday before hosting Columbus Academy and Lancaster on Saturday.  Saturdays game kick off at 10:00 am at the FHS Field Hockey Field.
 
Football:  Fairmont lost to local rival Alter 42-14 on Friday night.  The Firebirds had a hard time moving the ball against the Knights.  Junior Nick Bower led Fairmont on offense with 101 yards in the air.  Fairmont looks to rebound at Miamisburg on Friday, September 3rd.
 
Men’s Golf:  The Firebirds beat Springfield 151-188 on Thursday.  Fairmont finished 8th at the Middletown tournament on Saturday.  Scores at Middletown:  Nathan Duff 79, Spencer Kerivan 80, Robby Wydman 81, Will Hudson 89, Chet Powers 85 and Joe Soter 89.  Fairmont travels to Wayne on Tuesday and will host the Firebird Golf Invitational at NCR Country Club on Tuesday, September 7th.
 
Women’s Golf:  Fairmont won at Springfield 226-262 and lost at Butler 221-212 last week.  The Firebirds travel to Miamisburg on Tuesday for the only match of the week.
 
Men’s Soccer:  The Firebirds opened the season 2-0-1.  The men won at Troy 6-3, tied at Springboro 0-0 before beating up on Alter 2-0 on Saturday on the Knights home field.  Fairmont hosts Miamisburg on Tuesday, hosts Butler on Thursday and hosts Carroll on Saturday, all games at Fairmont Soccer Park.
 
Women’s Soccer:  Fairmont lost at home to Troy on Wednesday 7-0 and lost at Springboro on Saturday 4-1.  Emily Brandenburg scored the lone goal for the Birds.  The Firebirds travel to Miamisburg on Wednesday and at Butler on Saturday.
 
Tennis:  The Firebirds won at Butler 4-1, lost at home to Alter 5-0 last week.  Fairmont is 5-1 to start the season.  The Lady Firebirds travel to Springboro on Monday and host Springfield on Tuesday.
 
Volleyball:  Fairmont lost in three games at Alter on Saturday.  Kathryn Westbeld had 8 kills 2 blocks. Nicole Ray had 19 assists, Staci Bennett had 10 digs.  The Firebirds travel to Troy on Tuesday and host Sidney on Wednesday.
