Eight Canton High School wrestlers attended the Eastern Michigan University Team Camp. The Canton wrestlers teamed up with four wrestlers from Rockford and one from Rochester Hills to claim the championship and the belt. Canford, the team name, was a perfect 12-0. Canford defeated Lake Blue, an Ohio based high school wrestling team, in the finals 29-19. The team camp had teams from Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. The wrestlers that competed for Canton were Waleed Faraj, Mitch Wolski, Carl Lucke, Ryan Terrel, Donnie Watkins, Brent Winekoff, Anthony Abro, and Luke Konsitzke. The Rockford wrestlers were Chubs Johnson, Jake Byers, Jake Johnson, and Joe Stefanski while the lone Rochester Hills wrestler was the very talented Billy Fate. Three other Canton wrestlers that attended the camp was Ben Griffen, Richard Demarois, and Paul LeChevalier. |
