Seneca Golf Course
975 Valley Parkway Dr
Broadview Heights, OH  44147-3000
P: (216) 348-7274

The 18-hole "Seneca A" course at the Seneca Golf Course facility in Broadview Heights, Ohio features 6,559 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71 . The course rating is 71.2 and it has a slope rating of 118.  Seneca A Golf Course opened in 1939.

The 18-hole "Seneca B" Course at the Seneca Golf Course facility in Broadview Heights, Ohio, features 6,639 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 71.6 and it has a slope rating of 121.  Seneca 2 golf course opened in 1939.

This facility has two regulation eighteen hole courses. The greens on both courses are fast and small, while the fairways are often tree lined, but generous. The B Course is more challenging than the A Course. This facility does have a driving range, but only for customers who bring their own balls. The club annually hosts the Southwest and/or Midwest Amateur Tournaments. The signature hole on the A Course is #17, a 605-yard, par 5. On the B Course, the signature hole is #3, a 583-yard, par 5, featuring a pond that is situated fifty yards in front of the green.

Seneca provides a great challenge to any golfer of any discipline. 454 yard par 4's. The A course's 17th hole. A monster 608 yard par 5. Followed by the 18th, a long par 3 over the lake, about 193 or so... Just some of the holes that invite you out to Seneca. There are four nines (two eighteens) on this, what once was orchards and such. Some trees are still reminisce of when. There is an A and a B course. On both of these courses, you will get to use fairway woods. If your used to shorter courses where a drive and a 9 or wedge is the standard, prepare for a long afternoon if you can't hit woods off fairway grass and rough. The holes around the clubhouse have older forestation that form natural frames for some of the fairways and first and second cut rough. Drive a ball deep into the tree lined rough and you could be reaching into your bag sooner than you thought on the first tee. Especially in the fall. The Cleveland Classic used to be played there in the 40's. Yes, the course now days has vague impressions where some bunkers had been, and it reminds me of a "St. Andrews" type, where bunkers resemble more like hazards, with grainy textures. The greens are a little smaller than what they used to be, some getting to be sort of "postage stamp" variety, There are many nuances in the greens and one can trick you easily if you don't give enough attention to your putt. The rough can be brutal at times when it rains so much the groundskeepers can't keep up with it. You can lose a ball in a second if you fade or draw, so keep it in the fairway would be the best advice. When the course is cut and the weather good, a person can get their money's worth and experience some classic challenging holes of golf in the area, for a modest cost.

Seneca Golf Course was once host to the PGA Tour event The Carling Open Invitational, with the likes of Arnold Palmer strolling the fairways.  The Carling World Open was the last incarnation in a series of golf tournaments on the PGA Tour sponsored by the Carling Brewing Company beginning in 1953 and running through 1967.  The Carling Open was first hosted by Manikiki Country Club (private in those days) in Willoughby in 1953.  Seneca hosted the Carling Open Invitational in 1959, won by PGA Professional Dow Finsterwald, the then defending 1958 PGA Champion.  Finsterwald was a close friend of Arnold Palmer, who was also one of the dominant players on the Tour during this same time period.

Finsterwald played on four Ryder Cup Teams (1957, 1959, 1961, 1963) and was the non-playing captain of the 1977 team. He won the Vardon Trophy in 1957, which is awarded to the tour professional with the lowest scoring average. In 1958, he was honored with PGA Golfer of the Year. Finsterwald finished in the money in 72 consecutive tournaments – second only to Byron Nelson's 113 consecutive cuts.  Finsterwald was born and raised in Athens, Ohio. He attended Ohio University in his hometown, graduating in the Class of 1952.
