The Buford Lady Wolves softball team won 2 tight games Thursday to advance to the winner's bracket finals vs GACS on Friday night at 7:00. The Lady Wolves defeated Savannah Christian 3-2 behind Melissa Higginbotham's pitching and Ashley Razey's big bat. Higginbotham pitched a complete game to earn the win and Ashley Razey hit a go ahead solo homer in the 6th to go with an RBI Sac fly in the 4th for the 3-2 victory.
In Game 2, Karly Fullem posted a complete game shutout to lead the Wolves to a nail-biting 1-0 victory. Nicole Bell singled in the 5th and Melissa Higginbotham chased her home with a triple for Buford's only run.
Buford and GACS will meet for the 5th time on Friday, with GACS winning 3 of the first 4 games behind Jessica Coan's outstanding pitching. Buford defeated GACS in the Brookwood Tournament, handing GACS their only loss, while GACS won the regular season match-up, the Region tournament winner's bracket match and the Region Championships game.
GACS placed 2nd in the State tournament the past 2 seasons while Buford has finished 3rd in the State the past 2 seasons.

| The Lady Wolves finished 2nd in the Region 6-AA Tournament this week. The Lady Wolves defeated Holy Innocents and Pace to begin the tournament, lost to GACS, then defeated Wesleyan before losing in the championship round to GACS 1-0 in 8 innings. |

| The Lady Wolves Softball Program got off to a fast start with a 3-0 mark in the first week of the softball season. The JV team opened the season on Monday with a convincing 6-1 road victory over rival G.A.C.S. The Varsity Lady Wolves completed the week long sweep with 8-1 and 7-1 victories over Pope and Jefferson at home on Tuesday and Wednesday. The opening week of the season saw the Lady Wolves softball complex open with several changes including a new infield and a brick wall and net replacing the traditional chain-link backstop. |
