Result Details
The Buford Wolves returned to the playoffs in a big way, winning 2 games on the road at Adairsville (#2 seed, region 7-AA), 7-6 and 8-2.  The Wolves, making their first playoff appearance since 2006, played solid baseball all day to take the doubleheader and advance to the 2nd round of the GHSA state playoffs.
Josh Heddinger, Troy Heterick and Eric Eck combined to hold the Tigers in check all day and a united team effort put 15 runs on the board.  Heddinger started game one, working into the 4th, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits.  Troy Herterick picked up his 5th win of the season, working 2.1 innings of relief, allowing 2 runs.  Eric Eck closed the game, retiring all 3 batters faced for the save.  Offensively, Dylan Stowe led the way, going 3-4 with a bases loaded triple.  Brian Clark went 4-4 with an RBI while Adam Schrader, Josh Heddinger, and Brandon Kinzel each had 1 hit each.
In game 2, Eric Eck pitched a complete game, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 6.  Woody Ciepiela blasted a 3 run homer in the first and had a RBI double in the 6th to go 2-4 with 4 RBI's.  Adam Schrader went 2-2 with an RBI, Stowe went 1-3, and Kinzel went 1-4 for the game.
The Wolves made just 1 error in 14 innings, while executing 2 squeeze plays successfully.
Buford will now travel to Region 5-AA Champion, Pike County for round 2 on Wednesday.
